The Teller/CSR serves as the first point of contact for customers, providing prompt, accurate, and friendly service. This role is responsible for processing routine transactions, assisting with account inquiries, and promoting bank products and services that meet customer needs.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Incumbents must balance the responsibility of conducting error-free transactions while providing excellent customer service in a rapid and efficient manner. This requires a good level of concentration and an ability to be friendly with the customer while maintaining control over each transaction. The incumbent must be able to identify unallocated teller differences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other financial transactions accurately and efficiently
- Balance cash drawers daily and comply with bank policies regarding cash handling and transaction limits
- Identify customer needs and refer products or services appropriately
- Maintain and safeguard confidential customer information
- Comply with all compliance, security procedures and operational guidelines
- Support the branch team with daily operations and contribute to branch goals
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
ACCOUNT OPERATIONS
- Open accounts (e.g., checking, savings, certificates of deposit) and promoting banking solutions like online and mobile banking.
- Perform account maintenance and provide value-added services.
- Assist with vault and ATM services as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous cash handling, customer service, or retail experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Proficient in basic computer operations and software
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) regulations.
- Recognize unusual or suspicious activities and report as required.
- Adhere to cash transaction, monetary instrument, and OFAC verification policies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle currency, operate computer, and perform other teller functions
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., coin bags, supplies)
- Visual acuity to read, verify information, and detect discrepancies
- Hearing and speech clarity to communicate with customers and team members effectively
