About the Role

Bennington State Bank (BSB) is seeking a friendly, dependable, and service‑oriented Retail Teller to join our team. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while performing a variety of banking transactions accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, values accuracy, and takes pride in representing a trusted local financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and provide an excellent in‑branch experience.
  • Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and other routine financial transactions.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and maintain proper cash controls.
  • Assist customers with account questions, product information, and basic problem resolution.
  • Promote and refer bank products and services that meet customer needs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude in all customer interactions.
  • Support branch operations, including opening/closing procedures and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current on bank policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

Compliance & Security Responsibilities

This position requires strict adherence to all regulatory, security, and internal policy standards, including:

  • Following Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), and OFAC requirements.
  • Complying with Reg CC, Reg E, and other applicable banking regulations.
  • Protecting customer information and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws.
  • Reporting suspicious activity promptly and accurately.
  • Adhering to dual‑control procedures, cash‑handling standards, and security protocols.
  • Completing all required compliance and security training on schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous cash‑handling or customer‑service experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn banking systems, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional, dependable, and committed to serving the community.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and composure.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (cash drawers, coin bags, supplies).
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
  • Clear verbal communication with customers and team members.
