The Payroll & Benefits Administrator plays a critical role in supporting BSB employees and upholding our values as a community-focused bank. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee data accuracy while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Payroll Administration

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions
  • Review and validate timecards, overtime, PTO, and leave entries
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Reconcile payroll reports and investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Process garnishments, child support orders, and other legally required deductions
  • Coordinate payroll funding and ensure payroll bank account accuracy

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits
  • Manage new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and annual open enrollment
  • Reconcile monthly benefit carrier invoices and ensure accurate payroll deductions
  • Maintain benefit records and ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to employees by answering benefit questions and providing guidance on plan options

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files and HRIS data
  • Assist with internal and external payroll and benefits audits
  • Support year-end processing including W-2s, 1095-Cs, and retirement plan reporting
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive employee and bank-related information
  • Maintain a basic working knowledge of banking compliance requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) awareness, and adhere to internal policies and controls

Employee Support & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Provide timely, professional, and confidential support to employees and managers
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Work collaboratively with HR, Finance, and leadership teams to support a positive employee experience and a strong internal culture

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and benefits compliance
  • Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar)
  • High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and deadlines

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday–Friday
