Finance and Accounting Specialist

Bennington State Bank (BSB) is seeking a full time Finance and Accounting Specialist to support the Finance and Accounting Department at our Salina location. The Finance and Accounting Specialist will have responsibilities ranging from processing accounts payables to providing backup and support to the Accounting Officer. This role may also require other duties as prescribed from Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Process accounts payable for the entire bank, including printing of expense checks and preparation for signature and mailing.
  • Annually process 1099 statements.
  • Oversee pledging requirements for Municipality Accounts and Repurchase Agreements.
  • Post accounting entries to general ledger while transmitting funds to and from the bank through the use of wire transfers and ACH transfers.
  • Daily reconciliation and balancing of various internal general ledger and DDA accounts.
  • Provide backup to the Accounting Officer for reconciling the bank investment portfolio.
  • Provide backup to the Accounting Officer for completing and filing regulatory reporting such as the quarterly call report, FR 2644, and various holding company reporting.
  • Preparing management reports for various meetings on the financial condition of the bank and its branches.
  • Prepare various “data mining” reports to assist the CFO and Accounting Officer utilizing the bank core program.
  • Create timely and accurate reports by gathering and organizing information, utilizing software programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Route communications, memorandums, and notifications to all affected personnel.
  • Demonstrates personal and interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication, and initiative with customers and employees in order to ensure a high level of expertise in overall management of projects.
  • Follow all other instructions and perform any other job-related duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EFFORTS

Work may involve the constant use of computer screens, reading of reports, and sitting throughout the day. Ability to operate a computer keyboard, multi-line telephone, photocopier, scanner and facsimile, which often requires dexterity of hands and fingers with repetitive wrist and hand motion. Typically sitting at a desk or table with intermittently standing, stooping, bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to file materials.  Occasional lifting 10 – 25 lbs. (i.e., files, boxes, etc.).

PREFERRED EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.

HOURS

Full time hours. Branch hours Monday-Friday 8:00 AM -5:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM -Noon. You’ll typically be working during the branch opening hours and your actual working hours will be discussed at your interview.
